You read about a new popular diet that really helps you lose a lot of weight very quickly.

Siri, Like this diet and fast.

All kinds of celebrities walk away with it, so that must be good. They have become very fast, super thin, even though they already were. Yesterday you looked in the mirror and saw that you had gained weight again, so the new diet is more than welcome. Try again, who knows, maybe this will finally work.

On social media you see people doing everything to get thin and often with success. You want a body like that too, but no matter how you train and how well you follow the same diet you will never look like someone else because you are unique and the approach that works for one person may not work for you at all. And even if you lose a lot of weight, you don't look like someone else because you are you. 

People are always seduced by theories. Nutritional information often comes from the media, newspapers, magazines, the internet or books, and when a certain diet doesn't work for you, you feel like you're failing. But you don't fail a diet, the diet fails you. There is no one diet that works for everyone. 

This is exactly what is very important in my coaching: Bio-individuality : You are unique. It's one of the core theories of The Institute of Intigrative Nutrition® where I graduated and is so important to understand. It's the idea that everyone has completely different needs. We are all unique in the things that support our individual health and happiness, especially when it comes to nutrition, lifestyle and anything that makes you happy. What works for you will not necessarily work for your family members, friends or other dancers. Health is extremely complex and there are so many variables that it is impossible for all our needs to be the same. It really isn't that simple. It is understanding that there is much more to it than just making the “right choices”. It's experimenting to find what's right for you right now at this point in your life. Because that too is something that is always changing. What works now may not work in a few years, and that's ok.

I highly recommend that you explore what works best for you and trust your body and listen very carefully to it and not another book or celebrity that promises anything. You can never fail in a diet that you create for your unique self so put your energy into that.

You can start right away with a number of things that you can always do no matter what situation and that will immediately make you feel better and more energetic:

  • Less meat, milk, sugar and processed junk food
  • Less coffee and alcohol
  • More fruits, vegetables and unprocessed foods
  • Good proteins
  • Drink enough water
  • Sufficient rest

Just start with that. Listen very carefully to your body, it's trial and error but just keep trying. Add healthier foods to your diet so that you carefully avoid all things that are not healthy for your body. Adding more fruits, vegetables and water will naturally lead to less caffeine, sugar and processed foods. This phenomenon is called Crowding out, you can read about it in another blog. Do this at your own pace, you can start with one thing and then add another. If you want to do everything at once, that's fine too, you are unique, you do what you have to do.

The next time you see a diet pass by again, you will scroll through with confidence. You know what's good for your body and what makes you feel fit, happy and healthy, sorry Siri :)
