Health coach, auteur en spreker.

Ik ben een zeer ervaren professional in de wereld van dans en gezondheid. Na het succesvol afronden van mijn dansopleiding, heb ik vijf jaar lang mijn passie voor dans gevolgd in New York. Daar heb ik niet alleen gedanst, maar ook lesgegeven en een van de grootste dansstudio’s mede gerund.

Ik ben gecertificeerd als Simonson-jazzdocent, pilatesdocent, IIN Health Coach (met meerdere specialisaties) en docent basisonderwijs. Deze diverse achtergrond stelt mij in staat om dansers optimaal te kunnen begeleiden.

Mijn jarenlange ervaring in de danswereld heeft mij uitgebreide kennis en inzicht gegeven over alle uitdagingen die dansers tegenkomen waardoor ik je optimaal kan coachen.

Naast mijn coaching heb ik ook in 2022 mijn eerste boek uitgebracht, genaamd “Spitz!”. 

Dancing in New York City

I was allowed to do my internship year in New York City and I stayed there afterwards. As a young girl it was my ultimate dream to become a dancer and dance in New York. I really did everything to make my dream come true. I did it. I danced and taught in New York for 5 years. What a relief that was! I was only judged on my dancing skills, and what I looked like? Nobody was talking about that. Except myself, of course, because such a problem does not just go away. My enormous perseverance, mega positivity, down-to-earth humorous Zeeland character and willingness to do everything until I had achieved what I wanted to achieve, has brought me, despite everything, the most beautiful period of my life. Unfortunately, my disturbed eating behavior and negative body image hung like a dark cloud over this beautiful time. 

My vision

'Dancers and other young athletes and performers depend on the supervisors of their training, club or company. The fear of rejection and thus stopping their career always plays a role in that relationship. And because appearance counts in the assessment, these young people far too often develop eating disorders that they keep secret from their supervisors. That is why it is necessary that they are professionally and independently guided for their physical and mental health. Only then can they deliver healthy top performance'.

Happy with my body

There came a day in my life when I went to my doctor and he said that I was depressed and we had to do something about this misery for now and forever. I felt at that moment; it's now or never, this was my very last chance. And I'm glad I grabbed it with both hands. I now have a life completely free of any form of disordered eating. To this day I am amazed at how much ease and joy I am in this new situation that I could not dream of ever being possible again. I look with pleasure in every mirror I see, eat out as often as possible and I now enjoy doing sports and that can be called a miracle because it really wasn't. And that mirror image? I look at it with love, and I am even very happy with it.'

Facts about me

New York is my ultimate favorite city. I still visit all the major studios every year just to feel that wonderful vibe again. I prefer to sit in a theater all day watching dance, preferably rehearsals because then it is even more magical. Jacob's Pillow is the most magical place on earth for me. I can watch 'Revelations' by Alvin Ailey night after night and never get tired of it. I still prefer to cut the neckline off every sweater completely to make it into a huge boat neck like the dancer from the movie Flashdance. My favorite companies are Alvin Ailey, Hubbard Streetdance Company and NDT.

Saskia is a radiant loving woman with a warm heart and super positive energy. She can take you with her enthusiasm and push you in the right direction. By struggling with her own pain and finally understanding how old mechanisms work and transforming them into who you really are. Without constantly focusing on what others expect of you.

In a world where appearance and performance are so important. By being vulnerable and staying in touch, a new beginning will come!
