Looking at this picture makes me nauseous. I think I could fill a decent sized swimming pool with the chocolate spread I've gobbled up. Why is it never carrots or radishes that play the leading role in your eating binges. Do you also get very nervous when you see this picture. Do you also see yourself diving into the (refrigerator) closet looking for things you can put inside. The first bite is always delicious, but after a few hours of stuffing yourself, you feel intensely sad and you get confirmation that you have failed.

After moments like this you try to motivate yourself again by looking for a new way of life (read: diet). The dancers among us often simply stop eating altogether, or perhaps make a visit to the toilet to spit out everything that has just gone in. It's really unsustainable, isn't it? You know it will happen again at some point and you want to get rid of it!

One of the things I've done is look at my body in a completely different way. Your body is great. Your heart never skips a beat, your lungs are always breathing. If you have a wound, it will heal itself. It even makes a complete human being, unbelievable isn't it? What I've done isn't punishing myself after every binge like always, but I've started looking at what my body wants and why. We only see the binge as weakness but the reality is that the body is sending you a signal. Listening to this is really a big step to get rid of the binge. I found out later in life that I was intensely bored in the evenings, and then went looking for food. I then started taking a course that made me so happy, so that I was busy in the evening, and without having to make an effort, didn't think about food.

In my methods we spend an entire module on binge eating, but I want to share four points here that you can apply right now:

  • Drink water as soon as you feel a binge coming on.
  • Look at where the binge can come from and write this down. You may see a pattern that you can do something about.
  • Add healthy foods instead of eliminating things from your diet.
  • Find an accountability buddy!! Someone who can hold you accountable for the actions you take yourself to eliminate your binge eating.

I've learned to deal with binge eating in a positive way and not to punish yourself all the time or provide negative feedback, this doesn't work.

I would love to be your accountability buddy, sign up for one of my methods and we'll go for it together!
